Outreach in our Community and around the World

Epiphany's members, acting both through the church and as individuals, do a huge amount in Flagstaff and around the world.

Epiphany's biggest outreach effort is our annual Random Acts of Kindness dinner. This dinner with silent and live auction items started in 2005 and has raised over $210,000 for local beneficiaries. The first year we were able to give to three organizations. Now that number has increased to five. This year's beneficiaries (2010) are Catholic Charities Community Service, Flagstaff Shelter Services, Marshall School PTO, and North Country Healthcare.

Some other major events are our Loaves and Fishes food drive each summer to benefit St. Mary's Food Bank and our Giving Tree, which provides Christmas gifts and food to needy Marshall Elementary families.

Several Epiphany members have reached out to the world through Peace Corps, Hope International, and Doctors Without Borders. We have four current or recent Peace Corps volunteers. Byron and Jordan have wrapped up their time in Costa Rica and are now in China. Paul has completed his time in China, and Kevin is just starting in Ukraine. In addition, Becky and George were in Lesotho, Scott and Kathy have worked on women's health care in Afghanistan with Hope International, and Dave worked in Mindinao in the Philippines with Doctors Without Borders (Medicin Sans Frontieres). With a group from her school, Hannah spent a couple of weeks at the beginning of the summer working on buildings in Malawi, Africa.

Through gifts of time, talent, and treasure, Epiphany people support:
   Alcoholics Anonymous
   Assistance League of Flagstaff/Cedar Closet
Climb to Conquer Cancer (American Cancer Society)
   Flagstaff Family Food Center
   Flagstaff Medical Center
