Organist

Charly Spining writes, "As organist for the Church of the Epiphany, I provide musical accompaniment and support for all of the worship services that take place during the church year, including accompaniment for the singing of hymns, choir anthems, and sung portions of the liturgy. I am actively involved in planning for the musical aspects of our worship, including the selection of hymns, musical settings for the sung portions of the liturgy, and preparation for the major feast days of the Church Year. I also play for most of the weddings and funeral services that take place in the church during the year and provide musical support for various social activities in the life of the church. I am charged with the upkeep of our musical instruments, including the historic pipe organ that has been an integral part of our sanctuary for more than fifty years, and the two pianos that provide musical accompaniment both in the sanctuary and in the Parish Hall. An extensive plan for renovation of our pipe organ is a large part of my responsibility, and this will continue into the immediate future as we continue to upgrade and improve the capabilities and stability of our organ.

"In terms of my ministry in the church, I believe that I am given the responsibility to offer my musical talents and training for the enhancement and enrichment of the worship experience for all members of the Parish. In the words of the personal motto of Johann Sebastian Bach, I offer the musical talents with which I have been blessed 'to the glory of God', or Soli Deo Gloria."
