Loaves and Fishes

Epiphany's food drives to benefit Flagstaff food banks began in 2003 with "The Gift of the Magi", which ran from Thanksgiving through Epiphany. That first year, we collected a record 3661 pounds of food!

In 2006, we became aware of a pressing need for food in the summer. Not only are there more people present in Flagstaff and northern Arizona due to the temperate weather, but children who typically receive free or reduced-cost meals at school were left without these meals. Resources of many families are stretched very thin in the summer.

The result of our awareness of this need is "Loaves and Fishes", an annual summer food drive which runs from Memorial Day (the end of May) through Labor Day (the beginning of September). Both regular members and visitors are encouraged to participate by bringing non-perishable items regularly. All food is collected and distributed by St. Mary's Food Bank.
