Handbell Choir

"Let every instrument be tuned for praise..."

We began a new music ministry at Epiphany in 2005 with the introduction of handbells to our worship. We have three octaves of beautifully forged and tuned Schulmerich English handbells with which to begin this great adventure.

Handbells (literally, bells rung by hand rather than by a long pulled cord) have been used in Christian worship for centuries. In early Roman use, these bells were used to summon monks to worship and to announce the canonical hours of prayer. These bells were often inscribed with the words Vox Domini (the voice of the Lord).

Handbell players need to be able to read music, but bell techniques will be taught in rehearsal. The bell choir rehearses Wednesdays from 5:45-6:15 p.m. from September through May and plays in a service averaging once a month. If you are interested in joining in this great adventure, please call Mary Anne Bruner.
